Most, if not all, people on their way to hell are proud and most, if not all, proud people are on their way to hell. At least this one is not self-deceived as most are and is honest as most are not. It's a start a makes for a great conversation starter.
To coin a C.S. Lewis phrase, "Hell is a geographic reality". This culture has lost touch with that. According to Barna Research, in 2004 three out of five adults (60%) say that the devil, or Satan, is not a living being but is a symbol of evil, compared to 58% in 2001.
When I saw this picture, my reaction was sadness. This girl has bought into a false worldview, and the consequences are and will be terrifying. She is a product of a culture with a truncated view of reality. It saddens me that there a millions out there like her who simply do not realize what the True truth is about ultimate reality.
Surely this person is not a true agnostic like myself, otherwise she would not believe in the concept of heaven or hell and wouldn't be stupid enough to wave a sign around proclaiming to be going to either. I personally don't believe in either. I found it amusing, ironic and also apt that 'the dawn treader' is using a quote from an outdated fantasy fiction author (CS Lewis) as evidence to back up the viewpoint that hell exists.
God created us in His image to serve as kings and priests over creation. This cultural commission, the context for the great commission, extends from cultivating the Kingdom in the Garden to cultivating the Kingdom in every sphere of existence East of Eden.
The bloggers here represent a diverse fellowship of Christians, known as Centurions, trained by Chuck Colson and the Wilberforce Forum to restore culture by applying a Christian worldview to all of life.
